History

Ogoso Station opened on 10 January 1922 as the terminus of the Mie Railway's Suzuka branch line in present-day Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture; on 21 June 1922 the branch was extended to Utsube and Ogoso became an intermediate station. Operations were suspended in January 1944 and resumed in May 1959 after the platform was shifted 0.1 km toward Utsube and the line was operated by Mie Kotsu (later the Mie Electric Railway). Mergers brought it under Kintetsu on April 1, 1965, and on April 1, 2015 the line was transferred to Yokkaichi Asunarou Railway with the station facilities owned by Yokkaichi City. ICOCA service began on August 21, 2021.
