History
Utsube Station opened on June 21, 1922 as the southern terminus of the Mie Railway's branch from Ogoso, in present-day Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture. The line passed to Sanco on February 11, 1944, to the Mie Electric Railway on February 1, 1964 and to Kintetsu through merger on April 1, 1965. Yokkaichi Asunarou Railway took over operations on April 1, 2015 and a hand-over ceremony was held at the station; the station facilities became municipally owned by Yokkaichi City the same day. Locally composed arrival and departure jingles were introduced on March 4, 2017 and ICOCA support began on August 21, 2021.
