History

Nochi Station opened on November 25, 1930 with the extension of the Tetsudōshō Sanjin Line between Yagami and Tōjō, in what is now Niimi, Okayama Prefecture, and is the westernmost JR station in the prefecture. The line became part of the Geibi Line on July 1, 1937. Freight handling ended on March 11, 1962 and parcel service on September 1, 1972, when the station was also made unstaffed. Operations passed to JR West at JNR privatization on April 1, 1987. Tickets are sold by a taxi operator occupying the original wooden station building, which still survives from the year the station opened.

Notes

Tickets are still sold from a window in the original 1930 wooden station building, which is occupied by a local taxi operator that handles ticketing on JR West's behalf.
