History
Mukaijima Station opened on March 30, 1979 between Momoyama-Goryōmae and Ogura on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line, in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto, and is the closest station to Mukōjima New Town. Passing-loop tracks were added on November 28, 1984 and the station became a semi-express stop on March 15, 2000. PiTaPa service started on April 1, 2007. From February 22, 2025, stopping trains have been concentrated on Platforms 1 and 4 — the former passing loops — leaving Platforms 2 and 3 as through tracks, and fixed barriers were installed on the through-track sides during early 2026.
