History

Fukuyō Station opened on 1 December 1929 on what is now the Ōigawa Railway Main Line, in present-day Shimada, Shizuoka Prefecture. The wooden station building was replaced on 27 April 1998 with a Swiss-styled structure modelled on Brienz Station of Ōigawa's sister railway, the Brienz Rothorn Bahn. The station has a single island platform connected to the building by a level crossing and is unstaffed, with simple-contract ticket sales handled by the nearby Kanaya-Fukuyō simple post office. A landslide at the neighbouring Kamio Station in August 2003 cut service to Kanaya, which resumed via a temporary Yokoka stop on 19 March 2004. The station was designated a rapid express stop on 1 October 2023 but downgraded to a section express stop on 6 June 2024.

Notes

The current Swiss-styled station building was modelled on Brienz Station, the home of the Ōigawa Railway's Swiss sister line, the Brienz Rothorn Bahn.
