History
Hata Station opened on 10 April 1952 when Kobe Electric Railway (then Kobe Electric Railway) extended its Ao Line from Densha-Ono (the present Ono Station) to Ao, becoming the westernmost station on the Shintetsu network. The station has a single ground-level side platform with an effective length of four cars, fronted by a small prefabricated station building containing the ticket gates. A remote station-management system on the line's optical-fibre network allows ticket machines, automatic gates, fare adjustment machines, cameras, intercom and shutters to be controlled from the centre station at Shijimi, so the station is staffed only by patrolling personnel. Station number KB58 was assigned in the systematic numbering rollout.

Most of Hata's daily passengers are students commuting to Hyōgo Prefectural Ono Technical High School next door.
