History
Mikawa-Shiotsu Station opened on 16 November 1988 as a petition station on the JR Central Tōkaidō Main Line, built to give boat-racing visitors direct access to Gamagōri Kyōteijō without transferring at Gamagōri to the parallel Meitetsu line. The station sits in Takenoya, Gamagōri, Aichi Prefecture, 312.9 km from Tokyo along the Tōkaidō Main Line, and is adjacent to the Meitetsu Gamagōri-Kyōteijō-Mae Station. It is served by local and section-rapid trains, with two trains per hour in each direction during the day; special and new-rapid trains stop only when major races are held. The pedestrian bridge installed in March 2008 eliminated the Yui level crossing east of the station.
