History

Kita-Senri Station opened on 1 March 1967 as the northern terminus of the Hankyu Senri Line, when the line was extended from Minami-Senri. It was the first station in the world to use automated ticket gates, developed by Omron for the opening. Through-running with the Osaka Municipal Subway (now Osaka Metro) Sakaisuji Line began on 6 December 1969, and the gates were upgraded to combined commuter-and-regular magnetic versions in 1972. Station numbering as HK-95 was introduced on 21 December 2013. Two side platforms serve two elevated tracks, with ticket gates located underneath. The station sits in Furuedai, Suita, Osaka, serving the northern parts of Senri New Town including Furuedai, Fujishirodai and Aoyamadai.
