History
Ina Station opened on 1 June 1927 as a stop on the Aichi Electric Railway, which on 1 August 1935 merged into the company that became Nagoya Railroad (Meitetsu). The exact opening date is disputed: company histories record a signal post upgraded to a full station that September, but timetables and official notices show the station was already in service when the Yoshida-bound extension opened. A new station building was completed in March 1996, and Manaca contactless fare cards have been accepted since February 2011. From 11 April 2026 the station became unstaffed throughout the day.

Notes
Ina is the turning point for most Toyohashi-bound services because Meitetsu can only run six trains per hour onto JR Iida Line tracks shared with Toyohashi Station.
