History

Misono Chūōkōen Station opened on 1 April 1951 as Kitahama Station on the Enshū Railway Line in what is now Hamana-ku, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. The name reflected its original location in the former Kitahama village in Hamana District. In August 1977, the adjacent station was renamed Hamakita Station, and to avoid confusion this stop was renamed Kitahama Chūgakkōmae Station for the nearby junior high school. Continued confusion among out-of-town riders led to a second renaming on 1 August 2007, this time after the newly developed Misono Central Park created during a station-area redevelopment that also installed barrier-free facilities. The station is unstaffed with a single side platform and lies 12.0 kilometres from Shin-Hamamatsu.
