History
Shin-Itami Station opened on 1 March 1935 on the Hanshin Express Railway (now Hankyu Itami Line) between Inano and Itami stations. The stop was not in the original plan; it was added to serve the new "Shin-Itami" housing development that Hankyu launched amid a residential boom in Itami. The 1995 Great Hanshin earthquake suspended the entire line, with service progressively restored between January and March of that year. The station consists of two opposed side platforms with separate entrances on each side, lacks switches and signals (and is therefore classed as a stop), and received station numbering HK-19 on 21 December 2013.

Notes
Just west of the station once stood Itami Rose Garden, an internationally noted rose nursery that relocated to Nose in northern Osaka Prefecture in 2013.
