History
Okami Station opened on 1 April 1926 on the San'in Main Line in what is now Hamada, Shimane Prefecture. Freight operations were initially discontinued on 1 February 1963, and the station was destaffed in February 1979. With the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, the station passed to JR West. Freight operations resumed on 1 April 1998 to support a calcium-carbonate and fly-ash shuttle to the nearby Misumi Thermal Power Station but were abolished again on 1 April 2014. The station was closed temporarily in November 2024 after rain damage on the line between Ishimi-Tsuda and Masuda.
