History
Inadera Station opened on 1 April 1981 between Tsukaguchi and Itami on the Fukuchiyama Line, added when the section was electrified. Among Fukuchiyama Line stations only Nishinomiya-Najio and Shin-Sanda (both opened in 1986) are newer. JR West inherited the station at the 1987 privatisation, and the "JR Takarazuka Line" branding was applied in 1988. Service was suspended for nearly two months after the 25 April 2005 Amagasaki derailment further down the line, resuming on 19 June. Lifts were installed in 2011; in March 2018 station numbering JR-G51 was introduced and the Midori no Madoguchi staffed counter was replaced by a Midori-no-Kenbaiki Plus ticket machine the following day.

Notes
Although the station sits inside Amagasaki, it lies right against the boundary with Itami and draws commuter and student traffic from both cities, plus the nearby Kewpie and Mitsubishi Electric works.
