History

Takasago Station opened on 19 August 1923 with the inauguration of the Kōbe-Himeji Electric Railway, originally as Takasagomachi Station. It was renamed Dentetsu-Takasago Station on 16 January 1924. The line passed to Ujigawa Denki on 1 April 1927 and to the newly-spun-off Sanyo Electric Railway on 6 June 1933. The station became a regular express stop on 1 March 1948 (express service later discontinued in 1984), and a limited-express stop on 19 December 1952. On 1 October 1958 the station was relocated about 100 m west, and a southbound passing track was opened on 24 October that year; a northbound passing track was added on 14 November 1967. The station was renamed simply Takasago on 7 April 1991. From 7 September 2019, Louis Prima's Sing, Sing, Sing was adopted as the train-approach melody. Barrier-free elevator and signage works were completed in spring 2011.

Notes

Although the station has a north-side bus rotary served by Shinki Bus, the ticket gates are only on the south side, so passengers must walk through the underground passage to reach the platforms. The station's approach-train chime is Louis Prima's 1936 jazz standard "Sing, Sing, Sing," adopted in 2019.
