History
Minami-Suita Station opened on 16 March 2019 with the completion of the Osaka Higashi Line through Shin-Osaka and onward to Kyūhōji. The provisional name during planning was "Nishi-Suita"; the city settled on Minami-Suita on 24 July 2018 to match the local place name and to reflect its location at Suita's southern edge. Most of the line uses the former Jōtō freight branch, but the tracks immediately around this station were built new to swing the line into Shin-Osaka. The architecture follows a "Kanzaki River and waterways" theme, and although the station sits in Suita city it is treated as an "Osaka City" station for fare-zone purposes.
