History
Shimo-Shinjō Station opened on 1 April 1921 as part of the Kita-Osaka Electric Railway’s inaugural Jūsō–Toyotsu segment in what is now Higashiyodogawa-ku, Osaka. Through corporate mergers the stop passed to Shinkeihan Railway in 1923, Keihan Electric Railway in 1930 and the wartime Keihanshin Kyūkō Electric Railway in 1943, ending up on today’s Hankyu Senri Line, which was given that name in 1967. Station numbering (HK-88) was introduced in 2013. The Senri and Kyoto lines are now being elevated under a continuous grade-separation project begun in 2008; Shimo-Shinjō is being relocated roughly 200 m north and rebuilt as a three-level elevated station, with completion scheduled by the end of fiscal 2028.

Notes
After the new station is completed, its elevated platforms will sit roughly 25 m above ground in order to cross over the Tōkaidō Shinkansen on the south side.
