History

Sōzenji Station opened on 1 April 1921 as part of the Kita-Osaka Electric Railway (now the Hankyu Kyoto Line), in Higashiyodogawa-ku, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture. Two side platforms serve two tracks at ground level. Hankyu-wide station numbering on 21 December 2013 assigned it the number HK-62. Long-running grade-separation work, begun in the late 2010s on the 3.3-kilometre Sōzenji - Kami-Shinjō section, was initially scheduled for completion by 2020 but has been repeatedly postponed; the current target for elevation is 2031. Sōzenji has the lightest ridership of any station on the Hankyu Kyoto Line.
