History

Fukae Station opened on 12 April 1905 in Higashinada-ku, Kobe as part of the original Hanshin Main Line, operated by the private Hanshin Electric Railway. The station was damaged by the Great Hanshin earthquake on 17 January 1995; through services in the affected area were restored by 26 June 1995. Station numbering was introduced across the network on 21 December 2013, assigning Fukae the code HS-21. Between April 2009 and November 2019 the line through the Sumiyoshi–Ashiya section was raised above grade: the westbound tracks moved to the new elevated alignment in December 2015 and the eastbound tracks followed on 30 November 2019.

Notes

When the elevation project finished in November 2019, Fukae traded its surface side platforms for paired elevated ones, completing a sequence that had begun a decade earlier on neighbouring sections of the line.
