History

Ayameike Station was opened in September 1923 by the Osaka Electric Tramway and was reclassified from a temporary to a permanent station in September 1924. It became a Kansai Kyūkō Railway (Kankyū) station in 1941 and ultimately came under Kintetsu Railway operation. The station lies in the city of Nara, Nara Prefecture, on the Nara Line, 20.1 km from the line's starting point at Fuse and 26.2 km from Osaka Namba. Layout is two opposing side platforms serving two tracks, with separate ticket gates for each platform and no in-fare-area cross-platform connection.

Notes

The neighbouring Kintetsu Ayameike Amusement Park, a long-standing local landmark, was closed on 6 June 2004 and the site has since been redeveloped.
