History

Shin-Ishikiri Station opened on 1 October 1986 with the inauguration of the Kintetsu Higashi-Osaka Line between Nagata and Ikoma. On 27 March 2006 the line was renamed the Keihanna Line and station numbering was introduced, giving the station code C26. The station has two elevated island platforms serving three tracks, with the centre track typically used only for test running or for turn-back service when sections of the line are disrupted. In late June 2024, after a landslide between Ikoma and Shiraniwadai, the centre track was used for emergency turn-back operations. The station lies on the Osaka side of Mount Ikoma, about one kilometre from the older Ishikiri Station on the Kintetsu Nara Line, but the two are separated by a 100-metre elevation difference.
