History
Higashi-Chūōchō Stop opened on 3 August 2007 — Okayama Electric Tramway's first new stop in the 61 years since the Seikibashi Line was last extended. Construction began in April 2007, and an opening ceremony was held on 2 August (brought forward one day because of approaching Typhoon No. 5). The stop sits on the boundary of Higashi-Chūōchō and Minami-Chūōchō, in Kita-ku, Okayama City. Stop number S08. It has a single island platform serving two tracks. Until April 2015 the stop was signed "Higashi-Chūōchō (Shimin Byōin Iriguchi)" — referencing Okayama City Hospital, 140 m to the east — but the suffix was dropped when the hospital relocated.
