History

Teradachō Station opened on 16 July 1932 on the Osaka Loop Line. With the 1 April 1987 dissolution of Japanese National Railways the station came under JR West. During renovation work in August 2015, an early hand-painted station sign dating to the 1930s or 1940s was uncovered on the wall and subsequently preserved as part of the refurbished concourse. Station numbering was rolled out across the Osaka Loop Line in March 2018, at which point Teradachō received the number JR-O02. The station today has two elevated side platforms serving two tracks in Tennōji-ku, Osaka.
