History
Imafune Station (HN54) is a Hankai Tramway Hankai Line tram stop in Nishinari-ku, Osaka. It opened on 28 November 1980 as a replacement for Tobita Station (about 100 m east) on the Nankai Hirano Line, which closed when that line was abolished. Three days later, on 1 December 1980, the line was transferred to the second-generation Hankai Electric Tramway. Imafune was the newest stop on the Hankai Line until Ishizu-kita opened on 1 February 2015. Its name preserves the historical place-name 今船 used until the November 1973 address reform.

Notes
When Imafune was built in 1980, the place-names Higashi-Imafune-machi and Nishi-Imafune-machi had already been abolished by the November 1973 address reform — the stop preserved the historical 今船 name even though it no longer matched any administrative district.
