History

Kizuri-Kamikita Station was planned as an infill station on the JR West Osaka Higashi Line. JR West, Osaka Prefecture, Osaka City, Higashiōsaka City and other stakeholders announced their agreement to build a new station between JR Nagase and Shin-Kami on 31 March 2011. Approval was sought from the Kinki District Transport Bureau on 19 April 2013 and granted in July 2013. Construction began in September 2015 under the working name "Kizuri Station." JR West announced the station outline on 5 August 2016, and on 26 September 2017 finalised the name as Kizuri-Kamikita, reflecting that the station building straddles Kizuri in Higashiōsaka and Kamikita in Hirano-ku, Osaka. The station opened on 17 March 2018 between JR Nagase and Shin-Kami, with station numbering JR-F13 introduced from opening day. With the full opening of the Osaka Higashi Line on 16 March 2019, the station was incorporated into the JR "Osaka-shi-nai" (Osaka City) fare zone.

Notes

The station name combines the place names of the two municipalities it straddles: "Kizuri" in Higashiōsaka, where the station address is officially registered, and "Kamikita" in Hirano-ku, Osaka, where part of the station premises sits. Because the premises cross into Osaka City, the station is included in the JR "Osaka-shi-nai" fare zone despite its registered address being in Higashiōsaka.
