History
Nakafuto Station opened on 16 March 1981 as the southern terminus of the Osaka Municipal Subway Nankō Port Town Line (New Tram) when the line was opened between Suminoekōen and here. On 18 December 1997 the Osaka Port Transport System Techno Port Line opened between Cosmosquare and Nakafuto, making this station the interchange boundary for through services. On 1 July 2005 the OTS railway business (with OTS retaining only the track) was transferred to the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau, unifying operation; thereafter Nakafuto became an intermediate station on the Nankō Port Town Line. On 1 April 2018 it passed to Osaka Metro following the bureau's corporatisation. The station has an elevated island platform serving two tracks, with full-screen platform doors.

Notes
The station shut completely for three days during the G20 Osaka Summit of June 2019 — every train ran through without stopping as a security measure.
