History
Kasumigaoka Station traces its lineage to Utashikiyama Station, opened by Hyōgo Electric Railway on 12 April 1917 as part of the line extension from Shioya to Akashi. The operator passed through Ujigawa Electric in 1927 and emerged as Sanyo Electric Railway in 1933. On 1 June 1964, in connection with the elevation of nearby Sanyō Tarumi Station, the predecessor halts of Utashikiyama and Goshikiyama were merged into the new Kasumigaoka Station roughly 300 metres east of the older Utashikiyama site. The station was added to the Commuter Limited Express (now S-Limited Express) stop list on 13 December 1987.

Notes
The station carries the unofficial subtitle "Goshikizuka Kofun-mae," referencing the Goshikizuka Kofun ancient burial mound that sits a short walk northeast of the station.
