History

Himematsu Station (HN06) is a Hankai Tramway Uemachi Line tram stop in Tezukayama-naka 1-chōme, Abeno-ku, Osaka, beside the Himematsu intersection where the old Kumano-kaidō meets Nankō-dōri. It opened on 29 November 1900 with the extension of the original tram line from Higashi-Tengachaya to Kami-Sumiyoshi (today Kaminoki). In 2018 the station building, electric poles and platform rail-pillars were collectively designated a Selected Civil Engineering Heritage of Japan as part of the 'Hankai Tramway and Related Facilities Group' by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers.
