History
Hayashima Station, in the town of Hayashima, Okayama Prefecture, opened on 12 June 1910 with the Uno Line. Freight handling ended in 1970 and parcel service in 1985, and the station passed to West Japan Railway Company on 1 April 1987 with the JNR privatisation. The station became unstaffed in 2020 after the Midori no Madoguchi closed, and a new barrier-free station building with a separate south entrance was opened on 14 March 2026. About half of the Marine Liner rapid services stop here in addition to local trains on both the Uno and Seto-Ōhashi line designations.

Notes
Plans to double-track the line through the station were held up for years by land-acquisition difficulties, with the Bicchū-Mishima–Chayamachi section opening on 25 January 2009.
