History

Ise-Takehara Station, in the city of Tsu in Mie Prefecture, opened on 5 December 1935 when the Meishō Line was extended between Ieki and Ise-Okitsu. Freight handling ended in October 1965 and parcel service in 1984, and the station became unstaffed in April 1986. With the JNR privatisation on 1 April 1987 it passed to Central Japan Railway Company. The Ieki–Ise-Okitsu section, including this station, was closed by Typhoon Melor damage from October 2009 until services resumed on 26 March 2016. The aged original station building was retired on 16 October 2024 with no replacement planned.

Notes

When typhoon damage shut the line for years, the replacement bus did not call at the station itself but pulled in 100 metres away at a community disaster-prevention centre.
