History

Shichido Station opened on 21 April 1917 as a station on Nankai Railway's Main Line between Suminoe and Sakai. Through the wartime industry reorganisation it became a Kinki Nippon Railway station on 1 June 1944 and then a Nankai Electric Railway station on 1 June 1947 when the line was transferred to the newly formed operator. The up line was elevated on 3 July 1983 and full grade separation followed on 7 May 1985. Station numbering NK10 was introduced on 1 April 2012. The station has a single island platform serving two tracks on the third level, with the concourse and ticket gates below. Ridership has risen markedly since the 2016 opening of Aeon Mall Sakai Teppocho on the former Daicel chemical works site immediately west of the station.
