History

Nishiachi Station opened on 25 May 1920 on the San’yō Main Line as Japanese Government Railways extended local service westward through what is now the city of Kurashiki. The station passed to Japanese National Railways and remained a small intermediate stop on the high-volume corridor between Kōbe and Shimonoseki. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 it came under JR West, which still operates it today. The station consists of one ground-level island platform connected to the station building by an underground passage and is currently unattended.
