History

Kitanoda Station opened on 7 August 1914 on what was then the Kōya Tozan Railway between Hagiwaratenjin and Sayama. The line passed through successive corporate mergers, becoming the Osaka Kōya Railway in 1915, the Nankai Railway in 1922, Kintetsu in the wartime 1944 merger, and finally Nankai Electric Railway with the 1947 separation. The station was rebuilt as an elevated overpass-type structure on 16 May 1970. Station numbering NK63 was assigned in April 2012, and in March 2025 the entire departure-board system was upgraded to LCD displays with AI-driven automated announcements.
