History
Izumiōtsu Station opened on 1 October 1897 as Ōtsu Station, part of the Nankai Railway's opening between Sakai and the original Sano. A new station building was put into service in August 1941, and the station was renamed Izumiōtsu in July 1942 to match the city's name change. The 1944 wartime merger placed it under Kintetsu, and the 1947 line transfer returned it to Nankai Electric Railway. A new overpass-type building opened in June 1974, and the station was rebuilt as an elevated station, with the up line completed on 7 June 2008 and the down line on 4 August 2012, after which a solar-power system, rainwater reuse, and water-saving fixtures were also introduced.
