History

Ukiana Station opened on 29 March 1929 when Osaka Railway extended its line from Furuichi to Kumedera (today's Kashiharajingu-mae), in present-day Yamatotakada, Nara Prefecture. The 1943 merger with Kansai Express Railway and the 1944 merger with Nankai Railway placed the station on Kintetsu's Minami Osaka Line. Platforms were extended to a six-car length on 17 March 1993 to accommodate semi-express trains, PiTaPa support began on 1 April 2007, and the station became unattended on 21 December 2013.

Notes

The station name comes from the former village of Ukiana in Kitakatsuragi District, which once stood here.
