History
Chihayaguchi Station opened on 11 March 1915 on the Nankai Kōya Line, the privately operated artery running south from Namba into the Kii peninsula's foothills. Operated by the Nankai Electric Railway, the station carries the number NK72 and sits 32.5 km from Namba and 33.1 km from the historical Shiomibashi terminus. The simple ground-level layout has two opposed side platforms connected by an underground passage. Boardings have declined alongside the surrounding hill villages, falling to about 216 passengers a day in fiscal 2019.
