History

Nakanohigashi Station opened on 11 August 1989 on the JR West San'yō Main Line in Aki-ku, Hiroshima, as a community-requested infill stop between Seno and Aki-Nakano. A Midori no Madoguchi staffed ticket office began service in November 1992, automatic ticket gates were installed in May 2007, and ICOCA was enabled that September. After flooding in July 2018 closed the line, trains between Seno and Kaitaichi resumed on 18 August 2018. The Midori no Madoguchi was closed at the end of November 2023, and on 1 August 2024 staffed operation was withdrawn entirely, replaced by an intercom remote-attendance system.
