History

Higashi-takasu Station opened on 1 December 1964, more than forty years after the Miyajima Line itself began running through this area in 1922. The station is a ground-level, two-platform / two-track stop in Kogo-kita 2-chome, Nishi-ku, with the two platforms staggered across a road crossing that lies between them; the up-platform towards Hiroden-nishi-hiroshima is closer to the line's origin and the down-platform towards Hiroden-miyajima-guchi sits beyond the crossing. The station carries number M19.

Notes

Higashi-takasu's two platforms are arranged in an unusual staggered side-platform layout with a public road and level crossing in the gap between them, so passengers transferring from up to down line have to cross the road at the crossing in the middle of the station.
