History

Shin-Inokuchi Station opened on 14 March 1985 as a request station between Nishi-Hiroshima and Itsukaichi on the JNR Sanyō Main Line, funded entirely by the local community at a cost of about ¥370 million. The station passed to JR West at the 1 April 1987 privatisation, and gained a Midori-no-Madoguchi ticket office in February 1988. ICOCA-compatible automatic faregates and IC service began in May–September 2007. The Midori-no-Madoguchi closed on 1 March 2020, replaced the next day by a Midori-no-Kembaiki-Plus, and the station moved to a contracted operating model on 1 November 2021.

Notes

The JR station building is directly connected to Hiroden's Shōkō Center-iriguchi tram stop, forming a combined complex; an animated walkway links the station to the Alpark shopping centre.
