History
Ōnori Station opened on 10 July 1932 on the Ministry of Railways' San-Kure Line during its eastward extension from Akisaizaki to Takehara, and joined the unified Kure Line when the through route from Mihara to Kaitaichi was completed in 1935. Freight handling ceased on 1 July 1960, and on 1 October 1970 the station was placed under simplified outsourced staffing and baggage handling was discontinued. The station building was rebuilt in 1979. Privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 transferred control to JR West, which assigned the station number JR-Y26. ICOCA card readers were installed in August 2007. The station has two opposed side platforms on an embankment and is now unstaffed.

Notes
Although usage is normally light, the late-August fireworks festival at the nearby Takehara Thermal Power Station ground draws more passengers through Ōnori than a typical morning rush hour.
