History
Ajina Station opened on 11 August 1989 on the JR West San'yo Main Line, 324.8 km from the line's terminus at Kobe, serving the city of Hatsukaichi in Hiroshima Prefecture. The station has two opposed side platforms linked by an elevated station building and is staffed. An overpass directly connects the JR station to Hiroden-Ajina, a stop on the Hiroshima Electric Railway Miyajima Line, allowing transfer between the two operators without leaving the elevated concourse. The location places Ajina between Iwakuni and Hiroshima on the main east-west rail spine of western Honshu, with Japan National Route 2 running close to the station building.

Notes
An elevated walkway from the JR concourse leads directly into Hiroden-Ajina on the Hiroshima Electric Railway, sparing transferring passengers a street-level crossing.
