History
Kokubu opened on 21 February 1897 as an intermediate stop on Sanuki Railway's new Takamatsu–Marugame line. The railway was sold to Sanyō Railway on 1 December 1904 and nationalised on 1 December 1906. The station was destaffed and rebadged as a halt (停留所) on 1 April 1972; the station building was rebuilt in March 1978. With JNR's privatisation on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR Shikoku, and ICOCA contactless ticketing was introduced on 1 March 2014.
