History

Takata opened on 30 April 1912 as a station on the Takamatsu Electric Tramway. The 1 November 1943 wartime merger transferred it to the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad (Kotoden) Nagao Line. The slope between the down platform and the in-station level crossing was rebuilt in January 2005.

Notes

Takata houses the dedicated substation that supplies power to the whole Kotoden Nagao Line — generators were installed here when the line opened. It is also one of the few staffed stations dating back to the original Takamatsu Electric Tramway, and unusually for Kotoden, trains enter the station running on the right rather than the left.
