History

Kaiganji Station opened on 20 October 1913 as an intermediate stop when the Sanuki Line was extended westward from Tadotsu to Kan'onji by Japanese Government Railways, later Japanese National Railways. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR Shikoku. Located in Tadotsu, Nakatado District, Kagawa Prefecture, and carrying the station number Y13, it sits 36.5 kilometres from Takamatsu on the Yosan Line. The unstaffed station consists of an island platform serving two tracks; a small building functions as a waiting room and is linked to the platform by a footbridge.

Notes

Although Kaiganji sits on a busy stretch of the Yosan Line, two of its daily services run a Seto-Ōhashi Line local route in one direction only, from Kan'onji through to Okayama.
