History
Takuma Station opened on 20 December 1913 as an intermediate stop when the Sanuki Line — then operated by Japanese Government Railways — was extended west from Tadotsu to Kan'onji. After successive transfers to Japanese National Railways and then JR Shikoku at the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987, it became part of today's Yosan Line. The 1983 reconstruction added a single-storey reinforced-concrete station building, paid for in part with an 80 million yen contribution from the local community. The Midori-no-Madoguchi ticket counter closed on 30 September 2020, and ICOCA contactless ticketing became available on 14 March that year. Located in Mitoyo, Kagawa Prefecture, the station is staffed except in the early morning and late evening.

Notes
Takuma's station signboard is captioned "Station of the Urashima Tarō Legend", linking the stop to the folk tale of the fisherman who visited a dragon palace beneath the sea.
