History
Kita-Gōchi Station opened on 1 November 1960 as a Japanese National Railways intermediate stop during construction of the then Gannichi Line (岩日線) from Kawanishi to Kawayama, in what is today the city of Iwakuni, Yamaguchi Prefecture. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 the station was transferred to JR West, which on 25 July 1987 ceded the entire line and its stations to the third-sector operator Nishikigawa Railway. The station now sits 13.9 kilometres from the line origin at Kawanishi on the Nishikigawa Seiryū Line.
