History
Bunkanomori Station opened on 3 November 1990, added by JR Shikoku to the existing Mugi Line to serve the Tokushima Prefectural Cultural Forest Comprehensive Park. The unstaffed station has a single side platform on a concrete embankment with no station building — only a small shelter and a ticket vending machine. At opening, some local trains skipped the stop, but from 2000 all locals called there; a brief period from March 2012 to 2016 reverted to one northbound local passing through. Between November 1998 and November 2001, a temporary stop on a parallel alignment served passengers while the adjacent Sonose River bridge was being replaced.

Notes
Despite being named for the Cultural Forest park, the station required a 35-minute walk to reach it; no connecting bus existed until April 2016 — 26 years after the station opened.
