History
Akaboshi Station opened on 1 March 1960 as a new unstaffed JNR passenger station on the existing Yosan Line, in what is now Shikokuchūō, Ehime Prefecture. JNR privatisation on 1 April 1987 transferred operations to JR Shikoku. The single-platform halt has no station building; passengers wait in a small shelter on the platform reached by a ramp from a level crossing on the west side, while the local municipality has provided an adjacent waiting room and toilet block, with a bike shed alongside. The station is 85.9 km from Takamatsu and carries the line number Y25.

Notes
The station takes its name from Mount Akaboshi, one of the three "Doi peaks" that rise inland from the line.
