History
Kii-Uchihara Station opened on 21 April 1929 with the extension of the Kisei-Nishi Line from Kii-Yura to Gobō. The route was incorporated into the Kisei Main Line on 15 July 1959 when through running between Kameyama and Wakayama became possible. Freight handling ended in 1962, parcel handling in 1972, and the station was reduced to outsourced ticketing in 1985. Operation passed to JR West on 1 April 1987 at privatisation. ICOCA service began on 14 March 2020 and the station became fully unstaffed on 1 July 2020 when the outsourced contract ended.
