History

Tamanoe Station opened on 1 February 1963 as an unstaffed Japanese National Railways station on the Yosan Line, handling passengers only. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987, operation passed to JR Shikoku. The station consists of a single side platform serving one track, with no station building — only a passenger shelter, accessed by a ramp from the access road. Only Yosan Line local trains operating between Iyo-Saijō and Matsuyama call at the station; connections at neighbouring stations are needed to travel further along the line.
