History
Takahama Station opened on 1 May 1892 as the terminus of the Iyo Railway's line out from Matsuyama. On 10 January 1905 the station building was moved 483 metres north to its present site. From 1 July 2015 a new departure melody, 'Rhythm', came into use. The station is the terminus of today's Iyotetsu Takahama Line and carries station number IY01.

The station building, with Art Nouveau detailing on its roofline, was used as the fictional 'Hariga-ura Station' in the 2013 film Manatsu no Hōteishiki ('A Midsummer's Equation'). It is the only old-style station building remaining on the Takahama Line.
